Wonders Around Town

I love, love, love this wildflower!!! Look at the beautiful, delicate, little creases. And each one has one of the four-pronged, white star things, and then the other little stamens around it.

I want a field of it in my front and back yard. It is too late this year, and I guess I can't do it next year either. So for now I will just smile as I see them along the highways, and gracing other peoples lawns.

  1. I think these are primroses...In terms of seeds to broadcast in the fall, I only have seen them in wildflower mixes, but not just seeds alone. If you find some, I want some too. They look so delicate in the breeze.

  2. Pink evening primrose and very prolific! If you plant it, watch out that it doesn't take over your whole garden. But yes, it is delightful along the roadsides this time of year.

  3. I think I would be very happy to have a whole garden of it. Should I look for the plant or seeds...?

  4. You can find seeds and plants. In fact, the Wildflower Center's sale this weekend will have plants, I'm certain. But seeds are more cost effective. I like Native American Seeds, but I planted some Ferry-Morse brand last fall that came up nicely.

  5. Thank you so much for the info Caroline. I will definitely be looking for them. Although as I am in Jolly Old England right now, I will miss the Wildflower Sale. DRAT!
